This grain spawn is loaded with pure Grifola frondosa mycelium, cultivated from our vigorous production strain. Maitake is a slow colonizer, but highly rewarding for both gourmet and medicinal cultivation.

Recommended Substrate:

• 85–90% hardwood sawdust (preferably oak or beech)

• 10–15% wheat or rice bran

• Optional: 1–2% gypsum or limestone

• Moisture: 60–65%

• Sterilization required

Spawn Rate:

• 1:10 standard

• 1:5 for faster or more reliable colonization

Colonization Conditions:

• Temperature: 22–24°C

• Time: 5–6 weeks

• Humidity: ~70%

• Light: Not required during colonization

• Consolidation: Let rest for 7 days after full colonization before fruiting

Tips for Best Results:

• Maitake likes it cool and stable—avoid warm, humid tropical conditions

• Avoid overhandling blocks—fruit bodies form deep inside

• For indoor fruiting, consider bottom or side-cut bags to allow vertical crown growth
