This professional-grade grain spawn is made from our strongest Lentinula edodes strain, optimized for fast and even colonization of enriched hardwood substrates or sterilized sawdust blocks.

Recommended Substrate:

• 80–90% hardwood sawdust (beech/oak)

• 10–20% wheat or rice bran

• Optional: 1–2% gypsum

• Moisture content: 60–65%

• Pasteurization or sterilization recommended

Spawn Rate:

• 1:10 standard, 1:5 for fast growth

Incubation Conditions:

• Temperature: 23–25°C (73–77°F)

• Duration: 30–60 days (until block fully browns & firms)

• Light: Darkness or low light

• Humidity: 70%+

Browning Phase (Important!):
After colonization, shiitake blocks must "brown" for 2–4 weeks. This strengthens the mycelium and prepares it for fruiting. Keep them in a cool, ventilated room with indirect light (18–21°C) during this period.

Tips for Best Results:

• Avoid shaking spawn too much — Shiitake prefers less disturbance.

• Don’t fruit too early – blocks should be fully browned and firm.

• Cold shocking (soak in 10–15°C water) helps trigger strong flushes.

Storage: Refrigerate at 2–4°C. Use within 4–6 weeks. Can be frozen for longer storage.
